by popular demand!
GLAMOROUS, SWEETIE!!
I was feeling positive and happy about the start of a new
year until, that is, I heard that my usually amiable and occasionally tongue-in-cheek
look at life in Knutsford had, inadvertently, offended 2 new retailers. What? Me
offensive? Surely not many people read this stuff anyway – or do
they? To say that I was astonished and deeply disappointed is an understatement.
This Diary has been part of my life for nearly a decade and I have constantly
reported on and promoted the town’s shops, restaurants, events and visitor
attractions. I have even briefly spoken on radio and television about the
joys of living here.
So to the two pretty young things who have opened GLAMOROUS

(
beware spelling!) in King Street recently, and in my defence, I must remind them
that I welcomed them to the town on their Open Evening, enjoyed a glass of bubbly,
admired the glitz and glamour of their stock (very
on-trend and in all sizes) not only clothing but bags,
boots and great fashion jewellery. Yes,
I bought 2 items and so did my friend. I wish them well in these difficult
trading times.
Now to next door and MR SIMMS OLDE SWEET SHOPPE

It
would seem that my references to sugar intake, hyper active children and dental
decay have hit a sour note with the owner. Again, I was one of their first
customers, with my many grandchildren, who love the clean layout, attractive
packaging and easy-to-see goodies. Even my son had to have a nostalgic trip to
buy sweeties which reminded him of his schooldays.
My opinions are of no consequence and clearly my
writing style is not to all tastes but at least allow me a little freedom of
expression. Let
us have some sweetness and sparkle sprinkled around the town. Lighten up
girls! Oh and one more thing. This column is written voluntarily and any
local businesses mentioned are getting worldwide publicity - FREE
