Royal May Day Festival 146th Year 2010
Royal
May Day in Knutsford is an annual event which dates back to 1864.
The modern day festivals still recreate the customs upon which
it is based, including unique traditions such as 'sanding' the
streets. May Day in Knutsford earned its 'Royal' title in 1887
courtesy of the then
Prince and Princess of Wales and today attracts
thousands of visitors every year.
Saskia Pinnington was
crowned Knutsford's Royal May Queen. This years
Ladies in Waiting were Hannah Cotton and Olivia
Weatherby along with the Court Ladies, Meg Norbury,
Poppy Thompson-Smith, Hannah Evans and Jenni Downs who
took part in the crowning ceremony.
